UPDATE 4/15/2010
People have asked us many times what happened to the kitten that was rescued from route 248. We wanted to share this with you.
Chubbs is sweet and just loves his daddy & mommy Tony & Lisa. He is healed and in good health. He has a beautiful black silky coat and has some traits of a Main Coon.
He loves to sit on his perch and look out the window watching his world. He enjoys playing with Misty & Bear his dog friends. Sometimes he thinks he is one of them. For some reason he likes to play in water. He enjoys the running shower.
But most of all he loves to hang with mommy. He wants to help her and see everything she is doing.
Of course he is spoiled. Lisa started that when he was brought here after Tony rescued him. Lisa would bring turkey and chicken and hand feed him when the two would come to visit during his recovery and rehabilitation. They would come from Laureys Station every couple days to be with him.
Their daughter Tabitha, who is one of our adopters, came to see him. I asked if she wanted to feed him some chicken her mom left for him. She said "Sure, what do I put it in"? I said "you don't, your mom hand feeds him". The look on her face was priceless with a murmer "oh brother".
Lisa said "Chubbs likes to watch Judge Judy". Maybe he hopes some day Judge Judy will pass sentence on the person that left him on route 248 to die. We are all grateful that didn't happen thanks to "Our Hero" Tony and his wife Lisa.

Our "Hero" Tony and his wife Lisa |

Who would have thought that a normal shopping trip on 11/22/09 would become an act of mercy? Meet our “Hero” Tony Rhodes.
Tony and his wife Lisa were travelling north on route 248 in Pa. If you are familiar with this area just outside of Palmerton, you know about the rock walls that span along route 248. People speed along about 55 MPH and there is no shoulder available to pull off the road.
As Tony & Lisa were driving north, Tony noticed something by the rock wall. With that he found a safe place to pull over. All he said to Lisa was “It’s alive and I can’t leave it there”. He got out and started walking back about ½ mile.
Tony found a little Smokey black kitten crying. His little face looked up at Tony and he meowed. After Tony picked him up the kitten went limp in his arms. He took the kitten back to where he was parked and Lisa laid the kitten next to her on the seat. The little kitten went to sleep. They called their daughter Tabitha, who is one of Feline Finish Line’s adopters. Tabitha contacted us.
The kitten’s right rear paw was swollen due to an injury, his eyes watered and his face was full of mucus. His nose was scraped and he had a wound over his eye and on his head.
It turns out the kitten is about 8 weeks old and had a fractured head & neck which was healing. His injuries included various scrapes, a fracture at his hip and his right leg is rotated outward.
The kitten must remain quiet and not jump around. He is doing really well. Our hope is that his wounds will heal in approximately 6 weeks. If not, he will need to see a specialist.
The kitten is sweet and adorable despite all he has been through. He has personality and loves his belly rubbed. Tony and Lisa are adopting the little guy, which is wonderful. He will be going home within a few weeks after X-rays are taken to see if the area is healing properly.
It was a miracle that Tony spotted the kitten. It was meant to be and we can’t thank Tony enough. He is our “Hero”.
If you know Tony and Lisa, please thank them. This world could use more people like them.
